Cathy Lamb Musician

Cathy's roots are as an organist. She has held Organ Scholarships at Salisbury Cathedral and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge plus posts at Wells Cathedral, Christchurch Priory and Lichfield Cathedral where she was joint Director of Music with her husband, Ben.  She continues to give recitals at many major venues across the UK. She is the main accompanist for Salisbury-based choir Sarum Voices www.sarumvoices.co.uk and features on seven of their CDs.  She has one solo CD recorded on the BC Shepherd organ at St Alphege Burnt Oak.  

Cathy is well known as a Choral Animateur. She is Head of Music Performance and Director of MusicShare at Lichfield Cathedral School www.lichfieldcathedralschool.com and is responsible for co-ordinating this partner project between Lichfield Cathedral School and Lichfield Cathedral www.lichfield-cathedral.org with funding from The Arts' Council England via The Music Partnership www.themusicpartnership.org.uk.  MusicShare has just won the 2025 Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year Award for Best Music Education Initiative.

Cathy is regularly asked to teach for the Royal School of Church Music www.rscm.com (she is an Honorary ARSCM for her educational work) and one of two hosts of the Royal College of Organist's www.rco.org.uk TOSE Community (an online community for student organists).  She is  a Trustee of the Friends of Staffordshire Young Musicians www.fosym.org, Area Representative for the Cathedral Music Trust www.cathedralmusictrust.org.uk and President of the North Staffordshire & District Organ Society www.iao.org.uk.  She has written many articles and teaching notes including most recently for the RSCM's Hymnpact project and was finalist in BBC Radio WM's search for New Voices 2020 and has authored a Primary & Secondary Songbooks that were commissioned by The Music Partnership www.themusicpartnership.org.uk to go free of charge to all schools in Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford & Wrekin & Shropshire.
